Saturday, 1st September
How many times I have started this online diary, it's just not funny and we always get sooo busy that I just don't even get the time to breathe. I thought I will get all these things done during winter, as it supposed to be the "low season" when it comes to weddings and yayyy... the winter flew by and now it seems that it has never happened.
Today we had Jennine and Paul's wedding (photos are coming soon). One of my favourite couples to work with, (and trust me on this, I will write it in here when it comes to couples I feel, well, let's say.. differently about.) Jennine and Paul were just having so much fun that everyone there just couldn't help but to join in. We are talking about a couple with no stress at all, but wanting to know the footy score during the photo shoot (my job was to keep Paul updated via SMS). And Paul being Paul thanked us in his speech, which is not something he had to do, as I was probably was having just as much fun as they did.
Michelle (Joondalup's wedding coordinator) was great, there to help every step of the way. I had the feeling some of the girls behind the bar had their noses a bit out of joint, obviously not used a wedding coordinator working for the bride and groom, but the girls at the front counter were great and all the thanks for them for keeping me up to date with the footy score so I could keep the groom updated. Definitely a fun day!

Sunday, 2nd September
Father's Day! And guess what...I had an appointment at 9 am with a new bride! Needless to say, Danica didn't roll up and didn't answer to her mobile but failed to cancel and made me sit here to wait for her. What was I thinking to accept an appointment on Sunday, Father's Day at 9 am? (I guess I love my job, that's what.)
The day got a lot better from then on, Father's day lunch at Coco's in South Perth, amazing food and after a bottle of French Chardonnay followed by a bottle of Veuve Clicquot we even signed up for their vintage wine club. One thing I have to mention, their staff was without fault and were doing an absolutely amazing job. If I'd be running a restaurant, I would definitely try to steal all they waiters and waitresses!
3rd and 4th September
Just work, work, work, heaps of emails to answer to, the phone is ringing off the hook, haven't got time to write!
Wednesday, 5th September
Met up with Darwin and Deb at Vic Park to have a look at the location of a possible reception venue. Not a chance that I will ever recommend this place to anyone. We have been told that we can go in between 10 and 10.30, all other times they have "classes" in there. To start with, they gave us the wrong directions, but still got there by 10.15, just to be told that "I don't know who said that you can go in between 10 and 10.30, there are classes in there till midday." I should have sensed something then. After some push and shove, we were allowed to get in there for 10 seconds to have a peak. The next day I get an email from the place telling me that it is "not available" at the date we have requested. It was free a day before, but I guess it is only available to white Australians. (Darwin is from Mauritius.) I am furious.
What a sh... day! The afternoon goes by with a fight with a particular transport company, who just downloaded one of our photos from a website and decided to use it in their own advertising without our permission or without paying for it. Obviously copyright laws are not their strength. They already had a warning, but now I gave them 24 hours to take it of the web, or our lawyers will do the talking. Now they are very apologetic. I feel like kicking some butts.
Thursday, 6th September
Spent the morning at the day spa - I bloody need it! Julie at Serendipity is fantastic, no idea what would I do without her. Lots of work in the afternoon, but now in a lot more relaxed mood.
Friday, 7th September
Work, work, work, then catch up with Kirsty and Corey at Willow Pond to have a look at it as a possible reception venue for their February wedding. Roxanne shows them around while it's pissing down with rain, yuk! I can't wait for spring. Kirsty and Corey like Willow Pond, but they still have one more place to look at before making a decision.
Saturday, 8th September
Cake tasting in the morning with Amanda and Brett for their February wedding. This is always fun, and I like Amanda a lot, she is full of character. She definitely knows what she wants, my type of girl! They end up with a three tier cake, Mississippi mud, Caramel mud and White Chocolate mud. Yummm! Beats the hell out of a fruit cake.
Beth and David comes in to catch up with Stu to finalize the photography details for their October wedding. Such an easy-going lovely couple, they are going to have lots of fun.
My third appointment for the day just doesn't rock up (I am getting pretty sick of this) and doesn't answer her mobile. I'm gonna have to work out a system that this doesn't happen, as I am SOOO fed up with this. Pick up the damn phone and cancel if you are not coming! It's only common courtesy.
This weekend - spring cleaning the house! (NOT my favourite past time.) Might as well start this afternoon...
Monday, 10th September
Geraldine drops in with some pictures she framed for us (they are beautiful!) and we have a chat about missing Europe. (She's Irish.) She doesn't, I do like crazy.
Lunch at the Windsor with Stu's mates, Eric (Kwinana Golf Course) and his family, and Michael Sim (pro golfer). They had a game last week and I mean these guys are just sooo good at what they do (golf, that is), that it is not funny. No surprise Michael is on the US tour. Trust me, you will hear about him a lot later (he is still so young.) He tells us all these horror stories on food in the States, how when you order you don't get salad with your meal, maybe just a crappy old lettuce leaf. How the fast food joints are absolutely everywhere and how unhealthy most Americans eat. No surprise that there is such an obesity problem over there and Australia is pretty much following suit. Girls, stop eating crap! You don't want people to mistake you for an elephant.
Tuesday, 11th September
I had to cancel my appointment with Melanie at the Rydges, we are all so sick, especially Lilla, she missed school yesterday and today, my poor babe.
Kristy and Darren come for their final appointment in the afternoon (October wedding), they are great and not stressing which is fantastic.
Wednesday, 12th September
Got up at 5 am and drove to Leederville to pick up some flowers for a wedding. Cold and rainy, yuk! These Roses I picked up make up for it though. They are a new variety and stunning! Warm yellow with fire-red tips and they are called High Society. Now they are all over my house.
Went shopping to Carousel this morning, need some new clothes! Got so many social engagements coming up and nothing to wear! (Actually, that is bullshit, got too many clothes, but LOVE shopping for new dresses...) I was expecting to be walking around for most of the day trying to find that PERFECT outfit, except I walked into this one boutique and they had exactly what I was looking for (and many different ones of them, so I ended up buying three dresses.) You know that type of dress you wear for a social-working lunch. You cannot wear your party outfit but don't want to wear a suit and look like you just came straight from work. That between style, that is sooo perfect for these type of engagements and is sooo hard to find. Now I'm happy.
The afternoon goes with updating our photography album and it turns out beautiful. Overall, it's a good day!
Thursday, 13th September
Nadine rang this morning that she's not coming in to work and she's sick. Great. Now I'm in the office by myself full of appointments and didn't sleep half the night because my throat was hurting so much and couldn't breathe. Well, c'est la vie. Work, work, work all day, the Maryanne came to catch up to finalize all the details for her wedding - what a great looking couple, they are going to look divine on their wedding photos.
Friday, 14th September
Not even two weeks into the job and Nadine is not coming in again today...It is a shocking day, raining like hell and I got the bride from hell to go through her wedding photos. When the photography knowledge is so minimal it is sooo hard to explain certain things to people. She doesn't understand why the photographer doesn't crop her photos to size (to what size?)...well, because we don't know what size enlargements you will want! She finally pisses me off when starts handling my laptop. (I don't come to wherever you work and sit at your desk and make myself at home and start going through your files. Can you imagine if I would do that in a bank or anywhere else as the matter of fact?) She says she finds it strange that I don't let her use my laptop. I wonder is she does this everywhere. Never mind, you have to take the good with the bad.
Kellie's wedding day - beautiful bride, great couple, terrible weather!
I miss my friend's, Simone's birthday party, I got the flu and it would be so not fair pass it around, especially because kids will be there too, so I end up having an early night in front of the fire with a glass of red.
Saturday, 15th September
Glenda and Rob's wedding day. We don't normally stay for the reception, but they absolutely insist and will not take no for an answer! Lilla is having the time of her life and is the life of the party. We end up sitting at the bridal table and spending heaps of time with the bride and groom.
Sunday, 16th September
I'm preparing Ita's bouquet - she's getting married tomorrow and it turns out beautiful. And yes, I have an appointment this morning (Sunday!) with a new couple.
I have also had to let Nadine go, it does make me sad, but in the end it is just not working out and she is not following my instructions. So now I am without an assistant again and that just means that my workload is now double again, and all this when we are just coming into the busy season. Not happy!
Monday, 17th September
Rachael pops in to put my hair up, we are invited to the Perth Fashion Festival lunch at Sirocco's. I enjoyed myself so much, caught up with some people I know and the food and wine was fantastic! Stuart had a ball too and we both get home on a high. (Way too much champagne...:) Definitely not much work got done today...
Tuesday, 18th September
And another busy and amazing day! Pick up the girls at the office with the limo and off the next Chick Chat at the Rydges. Glass of Veuve on arrival - how could you go wrong? - and it is so nice to catch up some people who I know. Georgie from Pie In The Sky (jewellery and stationery) came with us as well for the first time, and we all had an absolute ball. Already booked in for their Melbourne Cup lunch! I love these kind of days!!!
Wednesday, 19th September
Well, back to work today...kind of. Got heaps of emails to answer to and calls to return, no idea when am I going to get to the end. It's not going to be today, that is for sure.
Thursday, 20th September
Caught up with Rachael at the office and we are going to have a chat to Melanie at the Rydges. She is really interested in what we do and we'll see how we can work together. We get the tour and love their balcony area - will have to consider it for my next birthday party.
The afternoon just goes with heaps and heaps of work...
Friday, 21st September
Keep Lilla home from school, she's not well and go and catch up with Chris (my doctor and THE MOST AMAZING human being, I can't believe how he can put up with all my shit.) After this and that, we discuss plastic surgery - he will give me some recommendations where to go and who to see - you know, and bit of nip and tuck :)) I'm European, I cannot see what is the big deal with it, if I don't like something, I'll change it, no biggie. I'll keep you up to date.
